What Can I do for dry eyes?

If you suffer from dry eyes, you know how frustrating it can be. The good news is that there are a number of things you can do to help relieve the symptoms. Dry eyes are a common problem that can occur at any age. The symptoms of dry eyes can range from mild to severe, and can include burning, stinging, itching, redness, and a feeling of grittiness or sandiness. you just can't seem to produce enough tears.

If you are suffering from dry eyes, there are a few things you can do to help relieve the symptoms.

1. Use artificial tears. This is often the first line of defense against dry eyes. Artificial tears can help to lubricate your eyes and provide relief from the dryness.

Ratings 4.4 out of 5. 2,408 ratings. Great product!! Works better than any other OTC drops I've previously used over the last 20 years. The dropper design IS different than other eye drops, but for a very important purpose: it allows for a preservative-free solution in a bottle instead of in single use vials. Each drop is dispensed without any flowing back into the bottle and that means no contamination. If you use drops for dry eye more than twice a day using a preservative-free product is a must - drops with preservatives can make the problem worse when used multiple times daily! I love this product and recommend it unhesitatingly

2. Use a humidifier. A humidifier can help to add moisture to the air, which can in turn help to relieve your dry eyes.

Ratings 4.3 out of 5. 4,388 ratings. It has many features that are very nice. There are three different settings that determine how much mist is going to come out. It's easy to switch between them with the light tap of a button. With a little experimentation, you'll quickly find the setting that's right for you.

The humidifier has a "night mode" which is perfect for sleepers who are sensitive to light. During night mode there is no light coming from the humidifier whatsoever. It also runs quite silently, so it won't wake you with noise either.

Another feature I appreciate is that you can refill it from the top. You don't have to haul this appliance to the sink and unscrew it from the bottom, as is the case with many other humidifiers. With this one you just open the little flap at the top, and pour in fresh water as needed. That's such a time saver!

3. Limit your time spent staring at screens. Staring at screens can contribute to dry eyes, so limiting your time spent doing so can help. Take breaks often and give your eyes a rest.

The average person blinks 12 times every minute, but we only blink 5 times per minute when using a computer. Our wide-open eyes are more prone to dryness, experiencing eye strain, developing headaches, and feeling irritated.

Taking frequent screen breaks gives our eyes time to relax after focusing on digital screens.

4. Heat can soothe irritation or inflammation to produce more tears. Along with eye massage after applying heat.

Ratings 4.4 out of 5. 1,884 ratings. I like this eye mask but the packs are so full they don't settle into the eyes super well. It heats up great and the casing is so soft. A little less stuffing would help it fit closer to the eyes and prevent too much compression.

Eye massager with heat. Ratings 4.4 out of 5. Ratings. 15,925. Review: This surprised me in how effective it was. Tried it at the end of the day while sitting on my couch and by the end I was falling asleep with them on!

The air bladders that inflate and deflate rhythmically are targeted on the temples and the lower part of the eyes. The vibration feature is nice and I like how they offer different modes/combinations of the massage, vibration, and heat. The blue tooth music link to a device and the speakers on the headset are weak but it’s a nice attempt to add another dimension of relaxation. The only things I wish were better are that it feels slightly heavy and so it pulls downward if you’re wearing it and not laying down, causing the strap to slowly migrate even if tight.

5.) Washing Your Eyelids to Control Inflammation and keeping your Meibomian oil glands unclogged and producing adequate tears.

Ratings 4.7 out of 5. 7,729 ratings. I have used the eye cleaner for a number of years. I recommend it to everyone who has dry or itchy or “gravel” in their eyes waking up. A single bottle is long lasting because I only need one pump to wash both eyes.

6.) Omega 3 fatty acid and supplements. You can reduce your risk of dry eye by up to 17% if you add fish oil to your diet. In addition, omega-3, commonly found in fish oil, can benefit your eye health by soothing symptoms and improving your tear quality.

Although eating fish is an option for a natural dose of omega-3 fatty acids, you can also take supplements.

Rating: 4.6 out of 5. Ratings 4,592. Review: I got these to help treat my very dry corneas. My doctor had suggested a much more expensive brand, but I decided to try these first to see if they'd work as well. The dosage is half the measure of the other brand, but even using twice as many capsules a day, they are much more reasonably priced. It took a full week before I saw an improvement, but they worked!! I have been taking them faithfully for four months, and my eyes are normal again. Be sure to take them with food to avoid stomach upset.

Ratings 4.7 out of 5. Rating 44.952. Review: This capsule is easy to swallow. It must be easily absorbed because it doesn’t upset my very sensitive stomach. My ophthalmologist recommended this supplement due to my age and previous cataract surgeries. And it’s inexpensive. I’ve used the generic supplement but for the minute difference in price, I’ll stick with the ARED2.
